CA Course Fees in 2023

The duration of the Chartered Accountancy (CA) course in India is about 4.5 years. The course is divided into three stages:

  1. CA Foundation: 4 months of study period followed by the exam held in May and November every year.
  2. CA Intermediate: 8 months of study period each for both groups followed by exams held in May and November every year.
  3. CA Final: 6 months of study period followed by the exam held in May and November every year.

Apart from the above duration, there is also a mandatory practical training of 3 years which must be completed before appearing for the CA Final exam. So, the total duration of the CA course is around 4.5 years plus the duration of the practical training.

CA Foundation Course fees

CA Foundation is the entry-level course for the Chartered Accountancy program in India. The course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the fundamentals of accounting, business laws, economics, and business communication.

The CA Foundation course comprises four papers, which are:


  1. Principles and Practices of Accounting

  1. Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting

  1. Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning & Statistics

  1. Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge


The exam for the CA Foundation course is held twice a year in May and November, and students must pass all four papers to be eligible to appear for the CA Intermediate exam.

The CA Foundation course is open to students who have completed their 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board. The course can be pursued through self-study or through coaching from a recognized institute.

The total CA foundation course fees is Rs 11,100(optional subscription for member’s journal also included) for Indian students and $1085 for foreign students. The CA foundation registration is valid only for 3 years, post which a student needs to pay Rs. 500 more if they have to continue further and revalidate their registration.

 

CA Foundation Examination Fees

The examination form fees for the CA Foundation course in India for 2023 are as follows:


  • For Indian Students – Rs 1500
  • For students from Nepal – Rs 2200
  • For foreign students - $325

Late Fees of ₹ 600/- for Centers in India and Nepal ($10 for Overseas Centers) is applicable.

 

 

 

CA Foundation Course Fees Structure for Reappearing Exams

The validity of the CA course registration fees for the CA foundation course is 3 years. After finishing of the registration period, you can re-validate it again by paying Rs. 500. All those students who are not able to pass their Foundation exams can only pay the examination fees again and get a new admit card for the next exam without paying the registration fees again.

 

 

 

CA Intermediate Course fees

The CA Intermediate course is the second level of the Chartered Accountancy program in India. The course builds on the foundational knowledge gained in the CA Foundation course and covers topics such as accounting, taxation, auditing, and financial management.
The CA Intermediate course comprises two groups, each consisting of four papers. The papers are:

  1. Accounting
  2. Corporate and Other Laws
  3. Cost and Management Accounting
  4. Taxation

Group II:
  1. Advanced Accounting
  2. Auditing and Assurance
  3. Enterprise Information Systems & Strategic Management
  4. Financial Management and Economics for Finance

The exam for the CA Intermediate course is held two times a year in May and November. Candidates must pass both groups of the exam to be eligible for the CA Final course.

To be eligible for the CA Intermediate course, candidates must have completed the CA Foundation course or have a relevant graduation/post-graduation degree. They must also complete a minimum of 8 months of study period for each group before appearing for the exam.

A late fee of Rs 600 is applicable in India and Nepal Centres.

The registration fee for CA Intermediate in India is Rs 13,000 for Indian students and $600 for Foreign students if opting for single group, and it is Rs 18,000 for Indian students and $1,000 for Foreign students if opting for both the groups.

There is another option of registering for CA Intermediate through direct route where students can register post completing their graduation. In this case, it is mandatory for students to opt for both the groups. The registration fees for direct entry students is Rs 18,000 for Indian students and $1,000 for Foreign students.

In addition to the registration fee, there are other charges such as the examination fee and the study material fee that a candidate needs to pay to appear for the CA Intermediate exam.

CA Intermediate Examination Fees

The examination fees for CA Intermediate for Indian students are as follows:


  • For both groups: Rs 2,700

The examination fees are separate from the registration fees and are payable at the time of applying for the exam. Additionally, there is a late fee of Rs 600 for submitting the examination form after the deadline.

 

 

 

Activity Fees for CA Intermediate Students

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) charge a students' activity fee of INR 2,000 for CA Intermediate students.

This fee is charged to cover the cost of various student activities such as sports, cultural events, and other extracurricular activities. The students' activity fee is paid separately from the registration and examination fees.

 

 

 

ICITSS Fees for CA Intermediate Students

The ICITSS (Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills) fees for CA Intermediate level in India are as follows:


  • For Orientation Program (35 hours): Rs 7,000
  • For ITT (Information Technology Training) Program (15 days): Rs 6,500

CA Final Course fees

The CA Final Course is the last level of the Chartered Accountancy program conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). To become a qualified Chartered Accountant, a candidate must complete and pass the CA Final examination, which comprises of two groups.

The CA Final course covers advanced topics related to financial reporting, strategic financial management, advanced auditing and professional ethics, and corporate and economic laws. Additionally, it includes elective subjects that allow candidates to specialize in a particular area of interest.

The registration for the CA Final course requires the candidate to have passed the CA Intermediate examination and completed the required practical training.

The registration fee for CA Final is Rs 22,000 for Indian students and $1,100 for overseas students.

CA Final Examination Fees

The examination fee for both groups of CA Final is Rs 3,300 and for one group, it is Rs 1,800 for Indian students. It is $550 for foreign students.

CA Intermediate Course Fees Structure for Reappearing Exams

The AICITSS (Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills) fees for CA Final level in India are as follows:

  • For MCS (Management and Communication Skills) Program (15 days): Rs 7,000
  • For Advanced ITT (Information Technology Training) Program (15 days): Rs 7,500

The AICITSS is a mandatory training program for CA Final students that focuses on developing their advanced IT and soft skills knowledge. The fees for AICITSS are payable separately from the registration, examination, and Articleship training fees.

 

 

 

CA Articleship Training Fees

Articleship training is a mandatory practical training program for Chartered Accountancy (CA) students that provides them with real-world exposure to various aspects of accounting, auditing, and taxation. The duration of the Articleship training is three years for CA students in India.

Articleship fees of Rs 2000 is paid during the time of registration, or on the inauguration of the training

 

 

 

CA Coaching Charges (Optional)

One may opt for a CA coaching to help them guide through the student’s journey. The fees charged by CA coaching centers in India vary based on factors such as the location, reputation, experience of the faculty, teaching methodology, study material, etc. However, the average fees for CA coaching classes in India are as follows:


  • For CA Foundation: INR 50,000 to INR 60,000
  • For CA Intermediate: INR 70,000 to INR 1,50,000
  • For CA Final: INR 1,00,000 to INR 2,00,000

This total comes around Rs 2.2 Lacs to Rs 4 Lacs for the total time period of CA journey.
